• Toronto Raptors rookie center Ulrich Chomche is the youngest player on NBA start-of-season rosters at 18 years, 297 days old. He turns 19 on Dec. 30. The second- and third-youngest players are 19-year-old rookies who were born on the same day: Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Nikola Topić and Charlotte Hornets forward Tidjane Salaün (both born Aug. 10, 2005).
• Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is the oldest player on 2024-25 start-of-season rosters at 39 years, 297 days old. LA Clippers forward P.J. Tucker and San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul, born one day apart, are also 39 years old, as is Charlotte Hornets forward Taj Gibson. Four players are 38 years old: Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors guard/forward Garrett Temple, Boston Celtics center/forward Al Horford and Houston Rockets forward Jeff Green.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James enters 2024-25 with 21 seasons under his belt. San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul has logged 19 seasons and Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry is at 18 seasons, while Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley and Boston Celtics center/forward Al Horford have 17 seasons. Eight players enter 2024-25 having played 16 seasons: Denver Nuggets center DeAndre Jordan, Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez, Miami Heat forward Kevin Love, Houston Rockets forward Jeff Green, Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook, LA Clippers guard/forward Nicolas Batum, Philadelphia 76ers guard Eric Gordon and Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant.
The Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2024-25 season as the oldest team in the NBA by age, with the average player 28.31 years old.
The Oklahoma City Thunder enter the 2024-25 season as the youngest team in the NBA by age, with the average player 24.148 years old.
